Antique Lamps: Oil lamps have been used for hundreds of years. With the discovery of electric, the lamp became much more decorative then utilitarian. Both the lamp base and shade turned into new territory for artistic expression. The electric light bulb produced a brighter light then the prior oil wick. Glass shades became the medium of that day.
